District Conference Information

February 6, 2012

This page outlines important information regarding the District Seven Conference, so be sure to read it completely and carefully! Please use the online RSVP form as soon as possible to indicate your conference attendance.

Location: Cleveland, Ohio (Case Western Reserve University). We will be staying at the InterContinental Cleveland Hotel and Conference Center on Friday night. The conference will be held TBD. Traveling to Cleveland will take the Michigan schools between 2 and 5 hours while Ohio schools will take less than 5 hours. We strongly encourage Chapters near each other to consider carpooling, your DDs can help pair folks up. This is a great way to rekindle your friendships from Convention and establish some new ones. If you have any questions or need contact information, contact one of us.

Date: Saturday, TBD, 2012

Time: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Parking: Parking at the hotel is $12 per day per car including in and out privileges and will be reimbursed. Parking elsewhere will not be reimbursed.

Who should attend: Both old and new officers - especially the chapter President, Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer - but all officers are welcome. It is especially important for next year's president and corresponding secretary to attend as well as this year's president. If you don't have next year's officers elected already, try to bring people who are interested in becoming an officer, even if they haven't been initiated yet. Also, all advisors are welcome and encouraged to attend. We will have sessions geared for advisors, so you are strongly encouraged to invite one of your advisors to attend. We do ask that you request permission to bring more than four members from your Chapter and if you plan on driving two vehicles (we will only reimburse for two cars if over four people attend). Usually these requests are granted as other chapters tend to bring less than four, but we don't want be caught off guard when you show up with ten people!

Area Alumni: Alumni living in the north-eastern Ohio area are more than welcome to join us for any or all of the activities on Saturday. We suggest coming around lunch time (11:45) to join the student members for lunch followed by a presentation by TBD, TBD of Tau Beta Pi, and our always competitive Battle for Toledo!

Attire: Dress for the District Conference is business casual. If you attended convention, you should dress as you did on Thursday and Friday of Convention. Slacks, casual dress pants, skirts, collared shirts, sports shirts with collars are all fine. You do not need to wear a suit, dress, or shirt and tie, but who do ask that you avoid jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and work-out wear as well.

Friday Night Dinner: Conference attendees arriving on Friday night are invited to join the District for dinner. We will meet in the hotel lobby around 6:30 PM and then head over to dinner at a local restaurant. Additional details will be posted as they are finalized. . Anyone arriving into the Cleveland area later is welcome to stop by and join us. As we did last year, the District will be covering dinner expenses for everyone!

Hotel Accommodations: We encourage any chapter having to travel much more than one hour to stay overnight Friday night. Dinner on Friday night will start around 7:00 PM. Our hosts will be on hand and can point out any other items of interest for your after dinner enjoyment. Chapters traveling more than five hours have the option of staying in a hotel on Saturday night as well and driving back on Sunday. Please let us know if you want a room on Saturday night so we can make the appropriate arrangements. The InterContinental Cleveland Hotel is located at 8800 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44106. Their phone number is (216) 707-4300 , but you should RSVP through the District web site to reserve your hotel room. You can contact the District Directors at to make or change your reservations after you confirm them through this web site. Directions and maps to the hotel will shortly be made available on the maps page.

Reimbursement of Cost: Our standard policy as your District team has been to reimburse your chapter for as much of the full amount you spend to attend the conference as possible. We will automatically cover the full cost of up to four people (one car) to attend the conference from each Chapter. If you have more interested in attending, please contact us first to verify that we can cover the additional costs. If money is the only issue stopping you from attending the conference (if your chapter is really broke) - contact one of us ASAP to let us know. We plan on covering all expenses with the exception of food expenses en route to and from the conference. Everything else including mileage, hotel accommodations, and food on Saturday will be covered by the District.

Ratification Ballots: Don't forget that your Constitution Ratification Ballots are due April 1. You can complete your Chapter's vote via e-mail, but make sure to get it postmarked by April 1. You do not need to spend extra money to overnight it or see that it gets there by April 1...a postmark will suffice!

2013 District Conference Hosts We will be selecting the host and date of the 2013 District Conference at this year's conference. Since the conference was in Ohio this year, it will be in Michigan next year. All Michigan schools are encouraged to put in a bid to host. If you are interested, contact your DDs for more information.
